Experience
Peter J. Ippolito has an international practice that touches on all areas of construction law, including architect and engineer malpractice, federal and state construction litigation, federal government and private construction claims and disputes and hearings before federal and state boards of contract appeal, administrative boards and courts of claim. He has extensive experience with hotel, medical facility, process piping and heavy construction disputes, representing owners, public agencies, developers, general contractors, all levels of subcontractors, design professionals, vendors and suppliers.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Ippolito is also a well-regarded mediator and arbitrator, who stresses litigation prevention, contract negotiation and claims preparation. His experience and approach have helped resolve numerous complex, large construction claims through mediation. He is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and has been appointed to the AAA's Nationwide Complex Construction Arbitration and Mediation Panels. The California Public Works Contract Arbitration Committee has selected him as an arbitrator in disputes involving state government contracts.
A former Assistant General Counsel to the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Mr. Ippolito is a frequent guest speaker for construction industry groups and has co-authored a case study that provides project managers, field superintendents and foremen with hands-on experience running a fictitious "project." He has written numerous articles on construction issues and is the co-author of the Western Region Chapter of the Wiley Construction Law Update. Ippolito has been repeatedly recognized as one of America's Leading Business Lawyers by Chambers USA and is also listed in the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of Construction Law.
A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and a former United States Army officer who served in Vietnam, Mr. Ippolito holds both a J.D. and an LL.M. Taxation.
