Jeffrey Li is an associate in McKenna Long & Aldridge’s Washington, DC office.

Mr. Li is a native of Shanghai, China. He holds a law degree from the University of Shanghai Law School and is a member of the National Bar of China.

After completing his law degree, he worked for three years as in-house counsel at China National Chemicals Import & Export Corp Shanghai where he gained legal experience in international trade and antidumping cases. He then worked three years at Praxair China, a subsidiary of a U.S. Fortune 500 company, also in Shanghai, where his experience included foreign investment, distribution and taxation in China.

Mr. Li counsels U.S. and Chinese companies with regard to pesticide, chemical, and food and drug requirements in the U.S. and China. He also assists U.S. and Chinese companies with U.S.-China trade and commercial transactions. He has advised Chinese companies regarding U.S. corporate laws and matters, including formation and establishment of joint venture projects in the U.S.; international trade issues, such as antidumping in the U.S.; and compliance with U.S. EPA regulations. In addition, Mr. Li has advised U.S. companies on Chinese corporate and foreign investment laws, such as stock acquisition of a Chinese company; and patent litigation and licensing in China. He has also advised American companies on Chinese chemical and pesticide regulations issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and China State EPA, and conducted regulatory due diligence for a U.S. company for merger and acquisition projects in China.

Jeffery clerked for the Honorable Robert Fairchild in Lawrence, Kansas, and the Honorable Lunyin Yan in Shanghai, China.

Mr. Li earned his LLM from Northwestern in 2002 and his JD from the University of Kansas in 2004.
