PROFILE

Eric Bergstrom has practiced law in California since 1987. Over this time he has specialized in complex construction defect claims, strict products liability, toxic tort, premises liability and personal injury litigation.  He has handled and overseen others in the handling of every phase of these claims.  He has been the principal attorney in over ten trials all of which received favorable verdicts, or were dismissed, including the following:

  • Spare v. Whitmire Research Laboratories, Alameda, 12-0 Defense Verdict

  • Medeiros v. Century Mfg. Snap On Tools, Alameda, 12-0 Defense Verdict

  • Todd v. Dillingham Construction, San Francisco, 12-0 Defense Verdict

  • Grahn v. Dillingham Construction, San Francisco, Motion for Nonsuit Granted

  • Dillingham v. Argonaut, Sonoma, Judgment for Dillingham in Indemnity Cross Complaint

  • Armstrong v. Dillingham Construction, Dismissed at close of plaintiff’s case

    He handled a recent indemnity action for a general construction contractor, where he negotiated a settlement of in excess of $400,000.

    Mr. Bergstrom was born in Greenbrae, California and enlisted in the U.S. Army serving 10 years in the 82nd Airborne Division, the 10th Special Forces (“Green Berets”) “A Team,” and the 12th Special Forces Group, USAR

    He attended the College of Marin and the University of California at Berkeley.  After graduating with distinction, he attended the University of San Francisco School of Law.

    Mr. Bergstrom has worked for house counsel for the Hartford Insurance Company, and several bay area law firms.  He later formed Bergstrom & Feldman, where he specialized in asbestos related personal injury defense before coming to McKenna Long & Aldridge.

    He is a contributor to local science and wildlife, and arts organizations and is an active outdoorsman, including, backpacking, skiing, and mountaineering.
