PROFILE

Cass Christenson is an experienced litigator and has handled complex attorney and commercial litigator. Cass has handled complex trials and appeals in many state and federal courts. Cass has obtained significant results for clients in cases involving intellectual property, insurance coverage, federal regulations, franchise agreements, employment issues, and many other types of cases.

Examples of Cass' recent representative cases include:

§      A jury verdict in excess of $50 million dollars for reasonable royalties after jury trial, and willful infringement in a case involving flat panel display technology..

§      Bench trial resulting in dismissal of all claims asserted against a medical device company in a regulatory action brought under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

§      Numerous insurance coverage cases, resolved in favor of clients through litigation and settlements, including with respect to CGL policies, D&O policies, ERISA policies, and other insurance.

§      Cass regularly provides counsel regarding electronic discovery and what companies should do to manage, retain, and discard electronically stored information ( ESI). Cass has trained attorneys regarding ESI discovery issues and litigation holds. In addition, he gives presentations addressing emerging issues and best practices concerning ESI.

In addition, Cass is a Vice-Chair of the ABA's Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section.  He has authored many articles regarding insurance coverage issues, and co-authored the Winter 2006 update of recent developments in insurance coverage litigation.  See 41 Tort Trial & Ins. Prac. L.J. 511 (2006).

Cass also contributes to pro bono causes, such as arguing a first-impression immigration case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

During law school, Cass served on Vanderbilt's Law Review and represented Vanderbilt nationally as a member of Vanderbilt's Moot Court Board.
