Will Skinner is Of Counsel in the Los Angeles office of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. His practice focuses primarily on defending product liability and complex tort actions. He has extensive experience in all aspects of aviation litigation in both federal and state court, including appeals. He has experience with general aviation product liability actions, mass air disasters, commercial and contract disputes involving general aviation manufacturers and commercial airlines, libel and defamation actions involving commercial airlines, sexual harassment and assault claims involving airline personnel, and defending commercial airlines in all varieties of personal injury and wrongful death claims arising out of international transportation.
Will was a key member of the team that defended Singapore Airlines in the mass air disaster of flight SQ006 on Oct. 31, 2000, involving the crash of a Boeing 747 on take-off from the Chaing Kai Shek International Airport in Taipei, Taiwan. Numerous wrongful death and personal injury actions were filed throughout the United States as a result of the accident.
He is a member of the Lawyers-Pilots Bar Association, the Aviation Insurance Association, and the ABA’s Aviation Litigation Section and Aviation & Space Law Committee. He regularly attends aviation law events, such as the annual SMU Air Law Symposium and AIA’s Annual Aviation Insurance Conference. He was a contributing author to The Liability Reporter (International Air Transport Association and Condon & Forsyth LLP) from 2000 through 2003 (Volumes 3-6).
Will also has significant experience in the area of mass tort pharmaceutical drug actions. Acting as national and local counsel, he has defended the pharmaceutical industry in complex mass tort actions in multiple jurisdictions throughout the United States. He has experience defending clients in class action lawsuits pertaining to the pharmaceutical drug industry and involving labor issues. He has also handled various trademark, trade name, copyright, unfair competition, commercial, insurance and intellectual property litigation actions.
He graduated cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law in 1999. During law school, Will was Senior Editor of the Syracuse Journal of International Law & Commerce, Senior Editor of The Labor Lawyer (ABA Publication) and one of the founding members and Executive Editor of the Syracuse Law and Technology Journal. He is also the author of "Preventing Gray Markets: Is Copyright Law The Solution?" (26 Syracuse J. Int'l L. & Com. 318, Spring, 1999).
