Ryan Landis is an associate in McKenna Long & Aldridge's Los Angeles office. He practices federal and state environmental counseling and litigation emphasizing environmental auditing, air quality management, real estate transactional consulting and hazardous waste cleanup. Ryan also practices general civil litigation with an emphasis on product liability and toxic tort lawsuits. He is also experienced at handling and overseeing asbestos litigation and both southern and northern California. He has extensive experience taking and defending depositions, drafting motions and pleadings, and preparing for trial.
Ryan has been involved with Proposition 65 defense litigation and has assisted in defending a broad range of entities in such lawsuits, from chemical manufacturers to international oil companies to cleaning product manufacturers. He also regularly counsels clients regarding their compliance with various federal, state, local and international environmental laws and regulations.
Before joining MLA, Ryan worked for the Attorney General's Office in the state of Alaska, where he focused on such matters as statutory enforcement and compliance with Underground Storage Tank regulations, wastewater treatment system monitoring, Mine Closure Remediation, statutory "permitted use" allocations for the fishery industry and government sovereign immunity cases. He also worked for the Department of Defense: Office of General Counsel on matters ranging from federal Superfund claims to federal agency authority designation, and issues related to a variety of environmental statutes including: CEQA, RCRA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and the Magnuson-Stevens Act.
