Loretta Lepore is a Senior Advisor with McKenna Long & Aldridge focusing on public affairs. Her portfolio includes public strategy, public relations, crisis & issues management as well as media training. Loretta also manages a portfolio of technology clients with existing state contracts as well as those seeking new business opportunities with the State of Georgia.
Loretta’s career spans more than 18 years as a journalist and network news anchor and more recently she served under the leadership of Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue as his press secretary and the state’s chief marketing officer.
In her role as Press Secretary, Loretta served as a senior advisor to the Governor. She was the primary spokeswoman for the administration, as well as a voice in policy, strategic planning and management decisions. While working for Governor Perdue, Loretta played an integral role in the planning of the G8 Sea Island Summit. She was the state’s chief communications liaison with the White House planning staff. Loretta also oversaw the state’s media outreach to international journalists on security and environmental issues, as well as efforts promoting business and travel opportunities in Georgia. In January 2005, Loretta was tapped to lead the state’s effort to re-energize its brand. As the Director of Marketing for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, she led the state’s marketing team to choreograph the launch of the nationally acclaimed Georgia logo, award-winning website, global commerce and tourism advertising campaigns. She focused communications strategies on promoting the state’s logistics infrastructure, bioscience industry and leisure travel market.
Loretta transitioned to government after her 11-year career covering politics and international affairs at the Cable News Network headquartered in Atlanta. Several of those years she worked as a reporter covering the Southeast. She earned a National News Emmy for her role within the network’s coverage of the 1996 Olympic Park bombing. Loretta also anchored for six years on CNN Headline News. She moved to Atlanta from Washington, D.C. where she worked for WUSA-TV, National Public Radio, Westwood Radio Networks, and WTTG-TV. She began her journalism career at WJTC-TV in Pensacola, Florida.
