( ATLANTA ) MALDEF, the nation's premier Latino civil rights organization, will hold its fourth annual fundraising dinner in Atlanta on Thursday evening, April 28, 2005 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta at 6 p.m., co-chaired by Honorary Chair Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center and Legal Co-Chair Arnold & Porter LLP. The program will honor the law firm of Moskowitz & Carraway, for their extensive services to and representation of the Latino community; the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which has been instrumental in MALDEF's Parent School Partnership program successes; and Luis Aguilar of McKenna Long & Aldridge, who has been a tremendous leader, sitting on the boards of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO).
A national nonprofit organization founded in 1968, MALDEF promotes and protects the rights of Latinos through advocacy, community education and outreach, leadership development, higher education scholarships and when necessary, through the legal system.
