VIENNA/ATLANTA (December 2007) - Craig Lesser, managing director for Atlanta law firm McKenna, Long & Aldridge LLP and new chairman of the Vienna Advisory Board, will visit Vienna in January 2008. Vienna International Exchange Corp. recently named Craig Lesser chairman of its advisory board.
VIE Corp. is an international organization supported by the State of Vienna. VIE connects the southeastern United States and Europe’s Centrope Region through educational, political, business and cultural initiatives. Mr. Lesser plans to visit Vienna in January 2008 to meet with government officials and help develop VIE’s existing initiatives and relationships.
Mr. Lesser was chosen as the chair soon after the Georgia Department of Education and the Vienna Board of Education forged an agreement whereby Viennese teachers will come to work in Georgia schools for one- to three-year terms. Mr. Lesser’s interest in Austria, his professional background and his standing in the community made him a prime candidate for the position. “Craig was a natural fit with his position and experience,” explained Mr. Enzendorfer, founder and CEO of VIE Corp. Mr. Lesser leads what Mr. Enzendorfer called a “prestigious” board, which features a former federal minister of finance for Austria, Viennese university officials and various business leaders.
Prior to joining McKenna Long & Aldridge, Mr. Lesser served as Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Mr. Lesser has also served as Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs for the Georgia Power Company; President & CEO of Mirant New York; and Senior Vice President of External Affairs for Mirant Americas.
Mr. Lesser received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Oneonta and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business, Leadership Georgia and the Regional Leadership Institute.
