McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Welcomes 12 New Associates

October 19, 2009 - McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) is pleased to announce that 12 new associates have joined the firm’s Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, Washington, DC and Brussels offices. The addition of these associates will contribute to the expansion of the attorney roster to 475, up from 450 at the end of 2007.

At a time when other law firms are experiencing attorney layoffs, MLA continues to address client demands through strategic hiring and staffing. “We are excited about MLA’s incoming class of associates,” said Mike Rizzo, MLA’s Hiring and Professional Development Partner.  “Through a collaborative process that accounted for both the talents of our new associates and our clients’ needs, we have strategically assigned our associates across a number of MLA’s practice areas.”

The following offers an overview of the new associates’ respective educational background, experience, practice affiliation and office location.

Claire Carothers joins the firm’s Litigation practice in the Atlanta office. Prior to joining MLA, she completed a two year federal clerkship with Judge William C. O'Kelley, Senior Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.), in English Literature, magna cum laude, from Washington & Lee University in 2004 and her Juris Doctor degree (J.D.), from University of Georgia School of Law in 2007. 

Crystal Clark joins the firm’s Corporate practice in the Atlanta office.  She earned her B.A., in Spanish with Minors in Business and Music, Summa Cum Laude, in 2003 and her J.D., from Mercer University School of Law in 2009. 

Suzannah Gill joins the firm’s Corporate practice in the Atlanta office. She received her Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.), with high honors in Management with Marketing Certification  from the Georgia Institute of Technology and her J.D., from University of Georgia School of Law in 2009.  

Michelle Swiren joins the firm’s Litigation practice in the Atlanta office.  She secured her B.A., Cum Laude, in Business Administration from University of Florida in 2006 and her J.D., from The University of Michigan Law School in 2008.

Matt Weiss joins the firm’s Litigation practice in the Atlanta office.  He earned his B.A., in Political Science and Public Relations, Summa Cum Laude, from University of Georgia in 2005 and his J.D., from University of Georgia School of Law in 2008. 

Bumrae Cho joins the firm’s Intellectual Property practice in the Washington, DC office.  He received his B.S. in Food & Biotechnology in 1996 and his LL.M. in 2003 from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. Additionally, he received his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2009.

Stephanie Ellis joins the firm’s Litigation practice in the Washington, DC office.  She secured her B.A., with honors in English Literature from Yale University in 2004 and her J.D., from Georgetown University School of Law in 2009.

Susan Corts Hill joins the firm’s Government Contracts practice in the Washington, DC office.  She earned her B.A., from Samford University in 1999, her Master of Public Administration from New York University in 2002, and her J.D., from Georgetown University School of Law in 2009.

Steffen Jacobsen joins the firm’s Government Contracts practice in the Washington, DC office.  He received his B.A., in Economics and English in from Boston College in 1999 and his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida Institute of Technology in 2002.  Mr. Jacobsen then received his J.D., from The George Washington University School of Law in 2009. 

Charles Swanson joins the firm’s Litigation practice in the Denver office.  He secured his B.A., in Art History from Rice University in 1997 and his J.D., from University of Colorado Law School in 2009.

Mary Buxton joins the firm’s Government Contracts practice in the Los Angeles office.  She earned her B.A., in Political Science from University of California, Los Angeles, in 2004 and her J.D., from Pepperdine University School of Law, Cum Laude, in 2009. 

Leah Romond joins the Litigation practice in the Los Angeles office.  She received her B.A., in Philosophy and Anthropology from Wake Forest University, Magna Cum Laude, in 2003 and her J.D., from University of San Diego School of Law, Cum Laude, Order of the Coif, in 2009.
