Governor Perdue took office in 2003 with a commitment to create a safer, healthier and better educated Georgia, which in turn would fuel prosperity for all citizens. He also took aggressive steps to transform government operations with the intent of creating one of the most well managed state's in the nation.

In 2003, the governor asked Jim Lientz to serve as the state's chief operating officer, a role that would be integral in helping the Governor achieve his vision. For the past four years, Jim has overseen the leadership, management, and supervision of state departments, agencies, and their respective boards and commissions. His mandate has been to improve efficiency, customer service and accountability throughout the numerous state agencies. He has worked with agency heads to promote the governor's agenda and to implement key strategic initiatives. Among those initiatives is the Commission for a New Georgia, a public-private partnership designed to identify private sector best practices and reconfigure them for public sector application.

Upon his re-election last November, the Governor attributed the success of his campaign in part to the effectiveness of the agency leadership and the public's satisfaction with the improvements to date. Join us as Jim provides insight into some of these success stories and how the Perdue administration intends to move forward in the second term.
