When Can “Buy America” Also Mean ”Buy British”? A Panel Discussion on Foreign Content and Ownership Restrictions

September 13, 2006
Presented by the British-American Business Association and McKenna Long & Aldridge

The U.S. Government has enacted a series of statutes that limit the products and services the government can purchase. Often referred to as "Buy America" restrictions, these statutes significantly differ in terms of agencies affected and products covered. In order to best compete in the U.S. market, it is important for foreign companies to understand these restrictions and how to best work within them.

This program will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about the Buy America restrictions, learn how the U.S. Government is interpreting them, and discuss how the business sector is adapting to the statutes.

Panelists will also review the current debate on Capitol Hill and the possible outcomes.

Moderated by John Howell, Partner, McKenna Long & Aldridge, our panelists will include Guadalupe Rodriquez, President of WG Scorpion LLC and Bill Woods, Director of Acquisition and Sourcing Management at the GAO. Joining them will be Mary Ellen Fraser, Of Counsel with McKenna Long & Aldridge and former counsel to the House Committee on Armed Services.
